Corporate Responsibility

Our Promise to the Community

First Midwest Group is committed to supporting the communities where we do business, from our hometown of Rockford, Illinois, throughout the Midwest and beyond.

As a company, we are committed to our core values of service, sustainability, and holistic support. Our team is active in the community through serving on boards and volunteering at local organizations. We embody sustainability by maintaining high environmental standards, sourcing materials locally, and employing vendors and contractors close to home. Through five global recessions, First Midwest Group has stood firm in supporting our hometown of Rockford by investing in the development of the local economy and its educational systems, and by supporting organizations battling hunger and poverty issues.

Local Economy

First Midwest Group values strong local partnerships with our tenants and the vendors and contractors we employ for the development and maintenance of our buildings.

Education

First Midwest Group and the Puri Family have been consistent advocates for education locally and globally. Through the creation of the Golden Apple Puri Family Outstanding Principal Award and the donation of seven acres of land to Rockford Christian Schools to build the Puri Residence Hall, First Midwest Group heavily supports K-12 Education in the region. First Midwest Group and the Puri family are also proud to support Rockford University, one of the oldest liberal arts colleges in the Midwest, and its Puri School of Business with monetary and building gifts .

Hunger and Poverty

First Midwest Group regularly supports local non-profit organizations that provide much-needed housing and food to individuals in the Rockford Region, like the Rock River Valley Pantry, Miss Carly’s, and 100 Strong. Globally, First Midwest Group and the Puri Family provided initial funding for Water for Dignity, an international Non-Government Organization providing clean water to the most impoverished region in India, in addition to providing education in farming, women’s empowerment, and community preparedness.
