New Clinics Give Swedish American, OSF Bigger Rockton Footprint

(RRStar, May 29, 2013, Melissa Mestphal)-Work has started on two medical clinics that will bring expanded primary care and specialty health care services to Rockton.

Officials with SwedishAmerican Health System hosted a groundbreaking Tuesday for the clinic at 4282 E. Rockton Road, which is east of Dorr Road and west of Interstate 90.

Walls have gone up a few blocks east of that for an OSF Medical Group clinic across Rockton Road from the Walmart Supercenter next to a Casey’s General Store. The 5,000-square-foot complex will open in November, offering primary care, X-ray imaging and lab services.

It will be OSF’s first clinic in the village. First Rockford Group is developing the property.

Walter Wayne Development is handling the SwedishAmerican property, which until recently was about eight undeveloped acres. The company owns the land and will own the 25,000-square-foot building. SwedishAmerican Medical Group will lease 20,000 square feet.

The SwedishAmerican clinic will have primary care, immediate care, speciality care, mammography, physical therapy and lab services. It will also house MRI, X-ray, ultrasound, cardio stress testing and nonstress testing services.

That clinic is expected to open by mid-2014 and will be staffed by two family physicians, an obstetrician/gynecologist, a podiatrist and another clinician. Specialties to be offered on a rotating basis include cardiology, orthopedics and pulmonology.

The SwedishAmerican clinic will replace the clinic at 5005 Hononegah Road.

“It will allow us to expand our footprint in this community and bring service options to this community that are currently not available,” said Don Daniels, vice president of SwedishAmerican Medical Group. “You’ll be able to get services here rather than travel to a hospital campus.”
