First Midwest Group has donated to the Northwest Community Center, located in Rockford just west of the Downtown district. This donation will go towards upgrades in the kitchen. The Northwest Community Center helps “foster resilience and enrich the quality of life” in the 15,000 individuals they serve.
(WIFR, News Room, Feb 19, 2019)- Local businesses step up to help out the Northwest Community Center in a time of need.
Nine local business donated money, labor and materials to help the community center upgrade its kitchen stove.
The efforts come after an inspector from the Rockford Fire Department recently noticed a safety issue with the stove. The inspector saw the stove hood installed could result in a fire if left in its previous condition.
The community center was left with two options; to purchase and install the correct hood in a five-figure project, or remove the stove.
Since the center couldn't afford the price tag of the repair, they rallied behind the community support.
