Leadership Team

Bharat Puri will serve as Chief Executive Officer of First Midwest Group, assuming leadership of the full portfolio of businesses and investments previously overseen by his late uncle, founder Sunil Puri. In this role, he will guide the organization’s strategy, operations, and long-term growth while honoring the values and relationships that helped build the company.

For nearly three decades, Mr. Puri has been an integral part of the organization’s growth and success. His experience spans acquisition, financing, development, construction, leasing, and property management. Through multiple economic cycles, his strategic perspective and hands-on leadership have helped strengthen the portfolio and position the company for continued success.

Mr. Puri earned a Bachelor of Science in Finance and Economics from Rockford College, now Rockford University. He further developed his business and leadership expertise through executive education programs at Harvard Business School and the University of Wisconsin–Madison.

His approach to leadership reflects the guidance of influential mentors, including Sunil, whose example helped shape his values and work ethic. Grounded in integrity, hard work, lasting relationships, and disciplined decision-making, Mr. Puri is committed to building on his uncle’s legacy while guiding the organization into its next chapter.

Outside of work, Mr. Puri enjoys international travel, cross-country skiing, and mountaineering. These interests reflect his curiosity, perseverance, and appreciation for different cultures and perspectives.
